Drunk Driver Parks At Police Station

An extremely intoxicated man was arrested early Tuesday morning after he stopped his car at perhaps the worst possible place, police said. Lebanon police Lt. Brent Wheat said Zachary Phillips, 23, of Lebanon, hit the curb on the way into the parking lot at the police station, flattening a tire. Officer Ryan Batts and Sgt. Aaron Altier, who were outside of the police station at the time, said Phillips parked near several cars and sat inside his vehicle until they went over to see if he needed help. Wheat said Phillips failed sobriety tests and was taken to Witham Hospital because he was very inebriated. “His preliminary blood alcohol concentration was 0.33 percent,” Wheat said. “Phillips was unable to explain why he chose to park at the police station.” Phillips was later taken to the Boone County Jail on charges of operating while intoxicated and public intoxication. Phillips had recently applied for a job with the Police Department, Wheat said.
